Opportunities Abound this Summer!

Have you ever noticed that it seems like feast or famine with pitching opportunities? (Some months E-Harlequin and other agents have them by the boatloads...other months it seems like the entire marina sailed without you.)

I’d like nothing more than to get my voice in front of some of these agents and editors that are judging the gazillion contests going on at the moment, but the bottom line is that my budget, and my husband, won’t let me enter every contest that has a name attached to it that I’m interested. Pity, isn’t it?

The upside is that, thanks to the brilliance of the Internet and blogging, many of these agents/editors host free opportunities for us starving artists out there. See below.

Passionate Critter queen and “champion of all romance writers “extraordinaire, Debora Dennis (seriously, I love this woman), let us in on an upcoming pitch opportunity with Scott Eagan of Greyhaus Literary Agency. Her RWA chapter, Dunes and Dreams, will host Eagan this Friday, June 4, 2010, on their chapter blog.

It’s my understanding (and I’m often wrong!) that the pitching will take place via the commenting function. Good luck, pitchers!

Also of note, Brava Authors (part of the Kensington Publishing Group) is offering a fantastic mentoring opportunity and contest that opens July 1. Please see their blog for more details, but the winners will be matched with current Brava authors for the chance to win your very own publishing contract. Wow!

Happy hunting out there!
