Currently in my hands...

On an absolute, random, passing-by and grabbed-in-a-hurry sort of whim, I picked up "The strangely beautiful tale of Miss Percy Parker" yesterday at the local bookstore. I'd heard absolutely nothing about it, nobody had recommended it to me, I didn't read about its imminent release in this month's Romantic Book Times...I just sort of "happened up on it."

I love when those things happen.

It's a different book, that's certain. Not sure, at this point of the story, why it was on the "Romance New Release" shelf, as I'm not quite certain who the hero/heroine really are...but wow. It's fascinating. It's dense, for sure, as the author, Leanna Renee Hieber, is building a universe all her own. It has its definite cast of characters and rules and orienting myself to it is taking more time than the average regency or pirate romance would...but something tells me the payoff is going to be worth it. Ms. Hieber is a great writer, no question. And she's certainly imaginative and unique (which is worth the $8 I paid for the book alone).

She's an author to keep an eye out for. And I'm thinking the universe and cast she built in this first episode are going to be back. Just a hunch. Ms. Hieber's blog can be found here: "Leanna's blog on books, fluffy animals, the undead and stuff."

Eloisa James mentioned the book in her B&N column. I'd pull my hair out if I ever got to be so lucky. Hopefully Ms. Hieber is more controlled than me!

Wow, thanks Harper!

What a delight, thanks for finding me at my blog and letting me know! You've a lovely blog, I really appreciate your support, and I wish you the very best of luck on your own journey! (Mine was about 9 years so I know all too well how tough it can be - kudos for the bravery to do it - never give up!)

Oh, and the Eloisa mention felt pretty hair-pull worthy. Controlled in my excitement isn't usually what I'm known for - sounds like I'm in good company. :) Keep me posted on your submission process so I know when to be crossing my fingers for you, we need all the good energy we can get in this biz. :)

Blessings!!
